A few years ago I made a decision to stop putting anything on my body that contained cancer causing chemicals. You may not know this, but my son Cade died from brain cancer when he was 14 months old. After he passed I started a nonprofit foundation the Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation in an effort to help families who were going through the devastation of the diagnosis of cancer especially brain cancer. I preach to my families about ridding yourself of carcinogens in your environment so I needed to be the one to lead the charge.
I started with replacing all my skin care products with homemade products that use the benefits of essential oils. Since I am almost 50 it is important to me to take care of my skin and prevent wrinkles as much as possible. So I was looking to make products that were natural and helped prevent premature aging. People tell me all the time that I don't look like I am almost 50.
I make this exact body and face wash for my son Rane and it has really cleared up his acne. It doesn't dry your skin out but the healing properties of the oils help to kill bacteria and heal scarring.
This is a super easy recipe.
These are the soap bottles I like to use at home. You can purchase them by clicking on this link.
Remember you want to regularly use glass bottles instead of plastic to avoid any leaching of chemicals from the plastic into your products.
Moisturizing Coconut Face and Body Wash
1/2 cup coconut milk
1 cup castile soap
1 tsp vitamin E oil
1/4 cup vegetable glycerin
15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil
(I use Young Living tea tree , thieves, frankincense and carrot oil)
Mix and bottle. This should have a great lather, so it only takes a small amount.
